Submission Guidelines

All Films must be submitted by Film Teachers with their professional discretion. If you have work that you would like to submit, you should contact your representative teacher for more details.

Submission Guidelines:

All work must be completely student produced for academic purposes.

Running Time 
High School: All films must be 5 minutes or less. 
Middle School: All films must be 4 minutes or less. 
Elementary School: All films must be 3 minutes or less. 

Any film that goes over the stated time limits will be immediately disqualified.

Content: All films must be appropriate to the intended audience.  We use the 2019 IB Film Guidelines for ethical film making as our guide for all of our submissions.  See sidebar.  Films that violate the guidelines are immediately disqualified.

IB (and S2F2) Guidelines for Ethical Filmmaking:

Student work in the DP film course must not:
• damage the environment
• glamorize the taking of drugs
• inappropriately reference socially taboo subjects
• incite or condone intolerance or hatred of others
• include excessive or gratuitous violence
• make reference to, or represent, explicit sexual activity.

Please note this list is illustrative and not exhaustive.

Limits to work submission:

Each school may only submit two films per category. From these selected works, each school can nominate one film per technical award. It is up to the discretion of the representative Film Teacher as to what works are submitted by each school.
